About the role

The Group Product Manager will help drive our roadmap, product plans and releases. Reporting to the Vice President of Outdoor Products and located in our UK EMEA (Marlow moving to Maidenhead) office, the role is responsible for the end-to-end product development of Outdoor products within the European, Middle East and African markets with global collaboration with the USA, Asia and ANZ teams. With the end-to-end approach, the role is about leading a team by example; building and reviewing competitive landscapes, product testing and end user research to build the next generation products to continue the businesses success.

This is a leader role that requires working cross-functionally with many teams and departments, including: engineering, industrial design, local marketing teams, marketing, finance, supply chain to bring focus and precision to the details of the product requirements and design, while establishing a strong vision of how the products will be used and perceived in the market. The Group Product Manager will have an opportunity to contribute in a direct and visible way by successfully building and executing roadmap strategies.


  • Best practice research and benchmarking; conduct competitive analysis and develop a strong understanding of how we win to drive development decisions.
  • Understand who is the key user of products and the feedback of current products.
  • Conduct market research, surveys and customer/prospect visits to understand and specify requirements for NPI’s.
  • Maintain product and market knowledge; analyse and keep abreast of market trends.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and incorporate new product features on an on-going basis; define market opportunities and develop product briefs.
  • Creation of product strategy, product roadmaps and specification of product requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a three-year product roadmap and customer/channel strategies for product and marketing differentiation.
  • Utilisation of key data – EGMF, GFK where available to ensure that we are growing and targeting new opportunities.



  • Work in an Agile Product Development process to develop products and specifications for the product that address user needs and offers a product that is compelling to ensure commercial success.
  • Work within the Global Engineering, Industrial Design and regions (USA & Anz) to ensure we communicate effectively and timely to ensure we are on time to launch in our defined launch window.
  • Work closely with the central and local Quality Teams to develop necessary strategies and taking required measures to improve current customer satisfaction levels.
  • Presentations to cross-functional Global and European teams, including Finance,



  • Management of existing product lines, increasing profitability and setting of Profit and Loss goals for each product/product line.
  • Act as product specialist both internally and externally for responsible Categories of Outdoor Products.
  • Work closely with the central and local sales and marketing teams, including, but not limited to communication strategy and plans for all printed material and digital content, packaging, web and point-of-sale.
  • Manage entire product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Participate in key sales planning meetings and presentations, including sales meetings and other customer events.
  • Develop and conduct product knowledge training seminars.
  • Creation of clear presentations that show the features, benefits, how we win and key supporting data and material to ensure the local markets are able to maximise the commercial success.


  • Manage a team of Product Managers including the recruiting and training of product managers when needed.
  • Planning, assigning and directing workloads of the team.


Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree education.
  • Min. 6-8 years extensive experience in product management and / or sales & marketing, with a proven track record of success as a Senior Product Manager, specializing in consumer goods and/or professional outdoor garden products.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, along with strong quantitative analysis talents facilitating strong business acumen and marketing communication skills. Excellent excel and PowerPoint skills to help deliver the messages and materials to the wider teams.
  • Possess the ability to interact at all levels of the business including senior management.
  • Have the ability to listen to both internal and external stakeholders and practice strong management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate people and activities across multiple functional areas with demonstrated strong capabilities in communicating and interfacing between Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing.
  • Proven success defining technical product features and driving cradle to grave feature execution.
  • Ability to analyse the competitive offerings in our market.
  • Willingness to undertake worldwide travel 30%+ of time is essential.
